Charles Darwin & Evolution

The new Darwin centre in the Natural History Museum in London (see the picture) will be opened next Autumn to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the scientist's birth. It contains the two big birds from the Galapagos islands, set on a velvet pillow in a glass showcase, that gave Darwin the first idea of evolution because he could see the difference of their common ancestors living in different isles.
This theory is the most important of the modern biology and essential for our scientists' research and work. we can say Darwin has changed the natural history of a science

  1. Cool... Now I've another reason to go in London! Darwin was a great "brainy", but he wasn't the only one. Before him there was another scientist, Jean-Baptiste Lamarck who theorized in 1809 his own theory about the evolution of living being. He started from the study of the neck of the giraffes then extend to other living being (including humans) his theory. Lamarck came to the conclusion that bodies, as presented, were the result of a gradual process of change that occurred under the pressure of environmental conditions. In 1856 Charles Darwin published the results of his studies. He published the theory of natural selection. In his book Darwin says that: "Like many individuals of each species are born in larger quantities and how, consequently, there were often fights applicants for survival, it follows that any being, even if with different qualities and with different living conditions, will have a better chance of survive and then, of course, to be selected. From the strong principle of inheritance the various selections tend to propagate the new forms and changes.".
So when a living being undergoes a mutation to survive in the wild transfers it to the next generation making it the standard prerogative of the species. This theory also states the typical "Law of the stronger" which everybody knows. it's fantastic to think that Darwin's studies started only with a bird that lives in Madagascar... Simply fascinating!

  2. Charles Darwin was born in February 1809 in England. He was biologist, geologist and scientist. Today he is famous because he defined the theory of evolution of animal and plant species. He acquired his knowledge especially in the Galapagos islands and he published his theory about the evolution of species in the book "The origin of species" which is his best-known work. This year in February will be opened the new centre in the natural history museum in London to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Darwin's birth. I think it's fantastic and interesting because I think that this makes us acquire more knowledge.
