NOBEL PEACE PRIZE 2000

The 2000 Nobel Peace Prize was Kim Dae-jung. He was born on the 3rd December in 1925 and he died on 18th August in 2009. He received the Nobel peace prize for his work in Asia because he helped the South Korea to reconciliate with North Korea and he has worked for the human rights in South Korea, so he was called “ the Nelson Mandela of Asia “. He was a politician and he was the 15th President of South Korea. Kim was born in Mokpo and during the Second World War he became very rich and in 1954 he became a politician. In Seoul Kim Dae-jung was banned and imprisoned in 1976 for taking part in a manifesto of anti-government so he was sentenced under house arrest in 1978. Kim died in Seoul on 2009. The cause of his death was a multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
