Maria Hoque writes THE WATERFAIRY

THE WATERFAIRY A man named JAMAL goes everyday to the forest to cut trees. He is very poor. Everyday he sells wood and the money that he earns he feeds his children. One day he went near a river to cut trees. When he tried to hit a tree with his axe, this fell into the river. The river was dangerous and there were many crocodiles. So Jamal, desperate, began to cry. He is so poor that he can't buy another axe. So he started to think what to do under a tree. After a few moments a WATERFAIRY came out of the river and asked: "Why are you crying?"."I'm very poor and my axe fell into the river so I'm crying." answered Jamal. " Well, I'll bring you the axe, don't cry!" said the waterfairy. After that the waterfairy went into the water and brought a gold axe and asked him: " Is this yours?" Jamal controlled it very well and said no. Immediately the waterfairy went into the water and brought a steel axe and asked the same question, but it wasn't Jamal's axe. Then the waterfairy went another time into the water and brought an iron axe and asked: "Is it yours?" Jamal was very happy. That was his axe! The waterfairy became proud of Jamal's sincerity. She gave him the two axes one of gold and the other one of steel with Jamal's own axe. Selling the two axes of gold and steel Jamal became very rich because he earned a lot of money. After that Jamal told the event to one of his friends that was poor and greedy. So the man went to the river and threw the axe intentionally. Then he started to cry without any reason. The waterfairy came out like before and asked: " Why are you crying?" the man said the same things of Jamal. Then the waterfairy returned into the water and brought him a gold axe and asked if it was his. The man couldn't resist to the light that the gold axe was shining and said: "Yes, it's mine! I recognized it!" but it didn't work because the waterfairy knows very well that the axe wasn't his. So she went away and didn't return. Then the man started to cry because he lost not only the gold axe but also his own axe, too! in that moment he understood that telling a lie isn't a good work. THE END
