Ladies and gentleman, you will see a free interpretation of a scene from Romeo and Juliet. However our story is a little bit different. By setting the scene in  the twenty-first century, we hope to make you smile. So, let’s see how now the story could be.

Juliet: Are you leaving me so early? It’s not day yet! Are you deaf? Our alarm clock has not rung yet, trust me! It was our neighbours’ one.

Romeo: It was ours, I set it yesterday to be on time today. Look!The sun is rising! I must go and be safe or stay and be in troubles.

Juliet: But light is not coming from the sun, but from an helycopter of the near jail. Stay with me, it’s no time for you to go!

Romeo: Okay! If you want me to stay, I’ll do it so. If my ruin makes you happy, I’ll  be happy with you. I’ll confirm all the lies you’re telling to me. You know, I’d rather prefer to stay than to leave, but if you want to tie me to such a cruel destiny I’ll make ropes like roses, beautiful, perfumed but prickly. Come troubles, and welcome! Juliet wills so. Let’s talk, it’s not day.

Juliet: It is! It is! So go , fast, go away! It’s the alarm clock that is making such a defeaning noise, and the helycopter is no more than the ring sun…. th-th-th-the shots of Jack Daniel’s I drunk yesterday are still having their effect on me. Oh! Sun… helycopter… alarm clock.. time…. i’d like them to swap roles because those silly things are breaking our existence.

Romeo: More and more light, troubles and more troubles….

[ Knocks Juliet’s sister ]

Sister: Juliet!!!

Juliet: Yes!?

Sister: Mom is coming! It’s eight o’clock! Let Romeo go where he has to go! [ Exit ]

Juliet: I want you  to text me every day of every hours. Oh… I’ll be old when we will meet again.

Romeo: Goodbye! I’ll let you have news, don’t worry!

Juliet: Will we meet again?

Romeo: I think so, this stressful situation will make our reunification sweeter; and there are also Facebook and Whats App to keep in touch.
Juliet: Oh Romeo! You seem so pale like a corp, I can almost see you in a tomb! What am I saying!? I’m too tipsy and scared so I have hallucinations.

Romeo: I think you’re just tired and scared, but trust me honey, I feel what you feel, but our love is not like the Jack Daniel’s you are tipsy for… it’s more a blood-like fluid that gives life… even to dead lovers. Goodbye![Kissing her hand][ Exit ]

[ Knocks Juliet’s sister ]

Sister: Oh Juliet! You are so lovely, your eyes are so linked each other and I guess your souls too. When I walked into the room, I saw a loving couple, the best in my opinion. I sure you’ll meet again and, if you want, I can give you a lift to Mantua next week.

Juliet. Thanks sister! You are so kind

Sister: You can always count on me. I’m sure you’ll soon get married.

Juliet: will you be gone? It isn't the hour. Please stay with me; that sound isn't true. It's only a Bird who sing on tree. Believe me, my love.

Romeo: no, sorry, i'm so scared: I don't believe it. I must be gone and live, or stay and die.

Juliet: this light isn't the morning; it's a light on the street. Look your watch: are 4:00 am. It's soon.

Romeo: what are you saying? You really want me to die. Don't make me scream. If i'll do this will come here the nurse and she'll see what's going on here.

Juliet: ok, ok! Be quite. It's only night that we can be together. Come here next to me and hug me. My love, i love you.

Suddenly enters the nurse

Nurse: Juliet, can i enter?

Juliet: wait, wait a moment. Nurse: Juliet, is everything ok? 

Juliet: (open the door) yes! Why?

Nurse: i had a bad dream about you. I'm sorry, back to sleep.

Juliet: ok, don't worry! See you tomorrow!

Romeo: i told you. Now it's late. It's 5.30 am. Can I go away?

Juliet: wait, look into my eyes and tell me first if you really love me.

Romeo: Juliet, i swear on everything that exists in the world. I love you! But now i must go.

Juliet: promise me you'll think me ever

Romeo: I’ll promise you my dear. You will be my first thought in the morning and my last in the night. Give me a kiss and for us will be forever. (They kiss)

Juliet: go Romeo and be careful! God be with you!

Romeo: goodbye my love.

Juliet: are you leaving yet? Won’t you stay with me? It’s already night.

Romeo: I’ve just heard the cock-crow. Look the sunrise.

Juliet: don’t beware if there is light or dark. Enjoy our last moments together.

Romeo: I haven’t got any choices unfortunately! If I stay here, they will kill me. Don’t you try to convince me. It’s also hard for me.

Juliet: you’re right! Go to Mantua and stay there… forever.

Romeo: why don’ t you understand me? Why are you getting angry?

Juliet: because I know, you will find someone else in Mantua. I’m afraid without you. I’m lost and insecure.

Romeo: are you kidding? What are you talking about? If I could stay I would wait here forever just to see you smile.

Juliet: oh sweet! If you hadn’t killed Tybalt maybe now we would have had a chance to stay together.

Romeo: you make me feel guilty. Don’t forget that your family hates me.

Mum: Juliet, Juliet wake up. It’s morning!

Juliet: oh my God! My mum is calling me.

Romeo: what should I do? I have to go quickly.

Juliet: so you are going away, just one last kiss please!

Romeo: I can’t, your mum is coming. She could see me.

Juliet: oh my Romeo, when will I see you again?

Romeo: I hope soon. But remember: I’ll never forget you!

Juliet: Will you be gone? It isn't day yet: It was a cricket, not the alarm clock, believe me love... it was a cricket.

Romeo: It was the alarm, live everyday, no the cricket: look honey, the stars are burn out and the sun is rising over the misty mountains. I must be gone and take money or stay and get fired.

Juliet: That light isn't sunlight, can you see? It is a taxi that I call to take you to Mantua for work. Stay here you don't need to leave yet.

Romeo: Let me get find another job; I'm happy, if you want. I'll say that this sound is the cricket and not the alarm clock. I have more cure to stay than will to go. Come boss and get me fired! Juliet wants that, let's talk it is not day.

Juliet: It is, It is...: Go away and take this Taxi. More light and light: More poor and poor our salaries.

Hannah: Juliet, My bestfriend!!

Juliet: Hannah, what's going on?

Hannah: Juliet, the hairdresser is coming here: your hair too long; give me money to pay him.

Romeo is now at Juliet's
J: Are you going away honey?
R: I must, it's a quarter past five. If I stay, I'll miss the train
J: Come on, it's too early!!!
Meanwhile: alarm clock rings
R: What the heck was that noise!?
J: Don't worry, it's the alarm clock,but my father won't listen to it,because the television is distracting him.
R: But if your father found me, he wouldn't allow me to see you again. But if you want that, I stay. I'm ready to risk for you!
J:You're right, you are risking too much for me, It's better that you go.
R:Juliet! The match is over, your father is coming!!
J:Hurry up! you have to go, use the window!
R:But first let me take a selfie with you!!!
J:Shall we meet again?
R: I'm sure, add me on facebook: Romeo Montague
J: Don't forget to tag me in our selfie!!
R: Don't worry. I won't forget it!

ACT III, SCENE V

Ladies and gentlemen, you are going to see the fifth scene of Romeo and Juliet. They have just spent their first night together after the marriage, but the day after Romeo must go to Mantua and they greet each other. We miss an appropriate place, visual and sound effects, so you have to use your fantasy to imagine the real scene. Excuse us for our bad performance, and delight it.

[Enter Romeo and Juliet]

Juliet: Would you like to go yet? That sound you heard was the nightingale, not the lark. Every night it sings on the tree: believe me, love, it was the nightingale.

Romeo: It was the lark, the bird that sings at dawn, not the nightingale: look, love, night is over and day is coming. I must go and live or stay and die.

Juliet: That light is not day-light, I know it: it’s just a meteor coming out of the sun to light your way to Mantua. So stay for a while, you don’t have to go yet.

Romeo: Let me be captured and put to death. I will stay and die, if you want it. It isn’t day-light!

Juliet: It is morning! Some say the lark makes a sweet division between day and night but it is not true because it separates us. Go away! Quickly!

[Enter Nurse]

Nurse: Juliet!

Juliet: Nurse?

Nurse: Your mother is coming to your bedroom. Be careful!

[Exit]

Juliet: You have to go away!

Romeo: Farewell! Farewell! Give me one kiss and I’ll go down.

Juliet: I must hear from you every day in a hour. In a minute there are many days. Oh, by this count I’ll be  many years older before I see my Romeo again!

Romeo: Farewell! I won’t miss any chance to send you my greetings.

Juliet: O God, I’m having a bad prediction. Now that you are down there, you look like someone dead in the bottom of a tomb. Either my eyesight is falling me, or you look pale.

Romeo: And trust me love, you look pale to me too. Sadness takes away our colour. Goodbye! Goodbye!
