5th November in the UK

Bonfire night

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot...

Guy Fawkes is the everlasting hero we cannot forget

Can you find anything similar in the town where you live?
and what about?

  1. On 5 November is a day that some men should be recalled because they realized that the state had become corrupted by English monarchy.E so they decided to destroy the king and symbol of hes power from the palace of westminster. The conspiracy, however failled. But THAT act will always be remembered by the British as the day when the government knew that he was in charge, but had to serve and represent the people and not exploit it. this event was born the phrase of an American president is not the pople have to be afraid of the governments but governments should fear the people

  2. I think that in tradition of Palermo there is samething like it. It is the "Vampa of San Giuseppe", in 19th March. The night of the 18th March the people burn the big woodpiles in honor of the Saint. This rite represents the passage from winter to spring.

  3. Guy Fawkes Night
Guy Fawkes night is a celebration whitch reminds 5TH November 1605 when some catholic conspirators , including Guy Fawkes , attempted to blow up the house of parlament , in the U.K.
it is primarily marked in the U.K but it is also celebrated in the british colonies.
Bonfire night was celebrated until 1970 when the celebration was effectively abolished.festivities are centred on the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.
    United Kingdom Customs
In the U.K. celebrations take place in towns and villages across the country they involve fireworks displays and the bulding of bonfires on which traditionally ''guys'' are burn , but this pratice isn't observed now.
these ''guys'' are effigies of Guy Fawkes.the night is celebrated also in York but in this town no effigy is burnt.in the past , children used the ''guys'' to request a ''penny for the guy'' to buy fireworks.
this pratice has diminished greatly , bacause it has been seen as begging and children aren't allowed to buy fireworks and in addition there are traditions that children might misuse the money.
the fod which are consumed on Guy Fawkes night in the U.K are :
-Black treacle goods such as bonfire toffe and parkin
    -toffe apples
    -banked potatoes
    -black peas whit vinegar
-potato pie whit pickled red gabbage

In palermo there is a tradition like it: ''Vampa of San Giuseppe'' that is a pagan celebration in 19th march.
