Telling stories by Wilde

There was a talented sculptor who was in love with an ugly and old woman. Nevertheless the man was so in love with her that he was inspired by her to create marvellous sculptures. However the old woman, besides being ugly, was also unfaithful: indeed she betrayed the sculptor with a blind musician.
One day, listening to the woman's vulgar declaration of love, the musician perceived his mistress' baseness. He explained her the reason of his rejection and meanwhile the sculptor, who had eavesdropped the musician's speech, opened his eyes and realized how false and ugly that woman was. So decided to abandon her.
The woman became aware of the sculptor's past love too late, and regretted her betrayal.
We realize the value of something when we lost it.
