A biography

My grandfather's great-grandfather, Giuseppe, was born in 1830, in Mazara Del Vallo,Trapani.
He lived with his wife Angela and his son Francesco.
During his childhood he didn't go to school but he was a good farmer and he grew up just with his father because his mother was dead by cancer.
As a young adult,Giuseppe joined the Garibaldi's army and  fought to reunite Italy.
Now I don't have too much information about him, but I know that he was a good man who fought for his country and for his people

  1. This story has fascinated me a lot and it is very interesting because it talks about a man who was born in 1830, he grew up alone with his father and when he grew up he joined the army to reunite Italy.
This story struck me above all for the story of this man who grew up without a mother.
This is a very interesting story and I really enjoyed reading it.

  2. This blog reminds me that we are very lucky because we haven’t lived during wars.
His granfather’s great-grandfather during his childhood didn’t go to school, he worked as a farmer and he grew up just with his father because his mother was dead by cancer.
We can’t imagine what it was like to live hidden, can’t play football with our friends in the street and joining the army as a child.

I have never asked to my grandfather something about his granfather, but my grandfather told me he has lived during the Second World War as a child.
He was six years old and he couldn’t go to school because the enemies threw bombs and they had to stay at home or in the refuges exactly like us, cause of the coronavirus.
This is a really interesting story and I enjoyed reading it.

I have always been very interested in the history of my ancestors, but unfortunately I never met my grandparents, hence I don't know enough about it.
While it is true that I can imagine what life was like in the past, through studing history, it could be exciting to go back to the story of my ancestors in particular...
Where they good people?! What are my familie's origins?! Did my grandfather's great-grandfather also fight alongside Garibaldi in order to reunite Italy, like Edoardo's one?
I would like to know all about them!
Furthermore, I feel that knowing the story directly from them can help people to become more aware of the war and its bad consequences; but also of immigration: indeed, nowadays people make a lot of controversy about this problem, without remembering that probably their ancestors were emigrant!
Therefore, let your grandparents talk about their life or their parents' one (although it can sometimes be boring); you may really learn a lot!
