THE STORY OF AN OLD MAN
During a hard winter
Long like a 10 December
Snow fell down from the sky
Copious, cold, white and shy
And in this beautiful landscape
There was an old man
That from the war didn’t escape
He tells a story about a dead man
Between a tear and another tear
He recounts a wretched story
About a war when died, John, dear
He knows that John’s soul is in Purgatory
The heart of this man was broken
By a bullet that split what was unbroken
He has been crying for 10 year
10 like this hard winter and a man’s fear
John’s body fell down going out
He fell to the ground white and cold
His soul by a bullet was carried out
In a puddle of blood

The dawn
A scarlet sea with hints of the colours of joy,
The clouds above begin to take life,
To sparkle and move in the multitude of shades.
The wind, cold and hot all at once, surrounds you,
Warmer than in a lover's embrace .
You know, you feel; it's the beginning,
A new day has come and with it
All the possibilities, all the opportunities
That may change your life forever.
As the sun rises, so does your spirit.
It's freedom at its purest for, it's
Hope that you feel when you stand
In front of the dawn.
How does your heart react?
How can your eyes stand such grace and beauty all at once?
You stand there, completely astonished, full of life
And it's the best feeling you're ever going to feel.

Oh Sea
When I look at you
I feel free
I love your blue.
Your sweet water
Reminds me of my mother's arms.
Push away the winter
Like in the dreams
Your waves
Move me away
From not being self-confident
The voice of the sea speaks to me
What should I do?
The touch of the sea
Is sensuous, close to me in an embrace

THE SUNSET FROM THE HILL
I’m on the top of a hill
Sitting on a rock in silence
In front of me only the sea
It’s late now, and I hear
My mother’s voice calling me
But I’m just sitting a little longer
Away from me the sun is setting down
And is about to kiss the sea;
The sky has now turned red
And the white moon is smiling at me.
I could do nothing but let my
serenity go with him.
How could I not stand there
In solitude, and listen to this
Peace, tranquillity and silence
Arrived with the darkness of the night
And only the wolves knew that I was
Still there, hoping for the
Arrival of a new day to see the red sunset again.

Public Transport
TRANSPORT
In my city, Palermo, there are plenty of means of transport like buses, trains
and bikes, which are fundamental for a lot of students and people who need
to reach their work places or their schools.
BUS
The bus is the easiest way to move around the city, because there are many
routes, so you have different opportunities to reach the city centre.
The only problem about buses is that if there’s too much traffic you could
take more time to get to your destination.
BIKE
Another way to travel around the city is hiring bikes, in fact in the city there
are some renting points where you can get a bike for a few hours, without
spending too much money. This choice can be very useful to move through
the traffic jam in the rush hour.
TAXI
Last but not least, if you are in a hurry and you have to reach a far location,
you can get and pay a taxi to solve the problem. This might be more expensive
than a bus, but you can catch a taxi even during the night time.
Conclusion
On balance, in Palermo, even though there is a big variety of means of
transport , sometimes they might be inefficient and not so reliable, in fact
they often are late and this could be a problem for students and employees
who have to be on time for they lessons and jobs. In my opinion the public
transport should be improved, adding more routes, which have to be
punctual.

A biography
My grandfather's great-grandfather, Giuseppe, was born in 1830, in Mazara Del Vallo,Trapani.
He lived with his wife Angela and his son Francesco.
During his childhood he didn't go to school but he was a good farmer and he grew up just with his father because his mother was dead by cancer.
As a young adult,Giuseppe joined the Garibaldi's army and fought to reunite Italy.
Now I don't have too much information about him, but I know that he was a good man who fought for his country and for his people.

Oscar Wilde tells stories in Paris (1888-1900)
The lying portrait
Once upon a time there was a king, who was really
rich, probably the richest king ever, who thought he was beautiful, or, better,
people made him think he was.
One day, while he was out for a walk, he met a beggar,
who asked him for money. The king told him he only had one of his portrait in
his pocket and gave it to the beggar. He gave him a coin with a face on it but
the face portrayed didn’t really look like the king. The face was completely different.
The beggar, who firstly didn’t realise the one he was talking to was the king,
pointed this out to the king and said what nobody ever told him: the truth. The king finds out that he
has never been that beautiful as people made him think. The beggar regrets what
he has just said and looks for mercy from the king: he was scared the king was
going to kill him.
Contrary to expectations, the king thanks the poor boy
for his honesty and for making him realise what the reality was. This shows the
importance of telling the truth, that must be put upon everything.

The glass eye
A rich man
became blind from one eye, so he decided to put a glass eye to replace it. It
was made from the most beautiful and bright crystal he found, in fact it was
very difficult to recognize. One day, he challenged one of his best friends to
distinguish the real eye from the glass one and he guessed without problems. So
the man said that the reason was that his friend knew him too well and they
decided to ask to an unkown one in the middle of the street. But this man
recognized the fake eye too and when the rich man asked him how he could have
guessed, he answered that the real eye was the only one
in which he saw a bit of pity.
